A team of Lensbury members and staff, will be taking on an ambitious challenge this August as they push themselves to the limit, cycling 200 miles from Teddington to North Devon in aid of The Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital. An epic three days of cycling will see our team tackle varying conditions and terrains, motivated to reach their limits in aid of this brilliant local cause.
Training started back in February, with the initial sessions taking place within The Lensbury’s state-of-the-art cycling studios during the colder months. When the warm weather arrived, our cyclists switched from the studio to the roads, upping the tempo as the date came into sight. All of the preparation and training will be put to the test when they leave The Lensbury early on Wednesday 2nd August, kicking off with an 85 mile ride to Salisbury. After resting up following the longest stage of the trip, they’ll continue their journey on to Taunton, a further 69 miles south west . The riders then face one final leg on August 4th, as the trip culminates in a 45 mile push to sister property The Mole in North Devon, where our brilliant riders will be joined by family and friends to celebrate their achievement.
Taking on this colossal challenge are:
- Claire Llewellin-Davis, Managing Director
- Lukasz Stawicki, Operations Director
- Leon Williams, Fitness and Studio Manager
- Sam Woolmore, Commercial Director
- Maarten van der Hoek, Revenue Director
- Tad & Tim (Lensbury Club Members)
The Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital has been providing support for patients, staff and the local community since 1954. The money raised by this brilliant local charity has gone towards improving the facilities and services at the Teddington Memorial Hospital. Since the charity’s creation almost 70 years ago, over £8 million has been raised and put directly into this brilliant local facility located in the heart of the community. The charity’s latest project switches attention to the hospital grounds, with the creation of a well-being garden for use by patients, families and staff members.
Everyone at The Lensbury is incredibly proud of the huge effort this group has made to be ride-fit and will be watching closely during the challenge to see how they do!
