On the River
We are already excited for the 2020 season and cannot wait to get back out
on the water.
Our Watersports Centre reopens for the new season on Saturday 14th March 2020 and we look forward welcoming lots of faces – old and new. Whether you are experienced on the water or a complete novice, we have something for everyone, from sailing courses to canoeing and kayaking with friends.
Highlights for this season include our ever popular school holiday courses and weekend clubs for sailing and kayaking which are perfect to give the smaller family members a chance to get onto the Thames! For any competitive sailors or kayakers, take the opportunity to trial for the London Youth Games in June this year, representing The Lensbury and Richmond Council at this prestigious event. Get into sailing by joining the social and fun sailing club where you can perfect your skills with likeminded sailors out on the water every Sunday morning and Thursday evening.
Team Lensbury will be taking to the Thames once again this year in our very own dragon boats to take part in the spectacle of the season, the Kingston Rotary Club Dragon Boat challenge which will take place on 19th July. This fast and furious event is fun to watch, as well as participate in – last year The Lensbury team came 2nd overall so we are going for gold this year!
To be part of this fabulous journey come along to training sessions at the Watersports Centre on Tuesday evenings 17:30-19:00, starting 7th April. Alternatively pop down to Watersports for more information from the team.
If you are looking for something a little less strenuous then why not while away the afternoon on one of our motor boats this year. Drive your very own boat down the river from our boat house to Hampton Court, enjoy the tranquillity and scenery – whilst perhaps enjoying your very own picnic on board!
For larger groups, celebrations and parties, Turks’ launches have large open-topped boats perfect for the summer months that can be arranged from The Lensbury to take you down the river in style!
